What exactly is a social walk?

Social walks involve coming together as a group and going for a dog-focused walk together. They allow dogs to deepen their social skills and improve their confidence. We focus on observing body language and activities that allow dogs to use their natural abilities. I have run these classes in London and Melbourne and both people and dogs really enjoy them!

What sort of things will we do in class?

During class we will focus on some skill-building activities, such as loose lead walking, dealing with novelty in the environment, recall and greeting behaviour between dogs. We'll also chat, play some games with the dogs and generally just have a nice time!

Where are classes located and when are they held?

We meet at Lake Daylesford and go on different routes depending on the activities planned. They run fortnightly at 9am on Saturdays.

Who can come along?

Social walks are open to dogs of all ages, sizes and breeds. They can be a great opportunity for young dogs to learn from older ones and for nervous dogs to gain confidence. Classes are only open to those who have had a private behaviour session with me or graduated from my puppy classes. This ensures that I know the dogs who are coming and can predict how they will respond to one another.

My dog is reactive towards other dogs. Does this mean the class won't be suitable?

Not necessarily! Social walks can be great for reactive dogs to help them gain confidence and feel more relaxed around other dogs. If your dog has issues relating to aggression, however, private sessions are likely to be more suitable as it's important that everyone is safe and comfortable on class.

How much does it cost?

The walks are $20 per class and last for 50 minutes.

Do I need to bring anything?

Dogs should be on comfortable harnesses with long leads so they can take part in all activities and socialise with ease. Choke chains, prong collars, shock collars and slip leads are not permitted. You will also need some tasty treats!

How do I book?

Once you have had a behaviour session with me or attended puppy classes you will be sent a booking link.
